Dental Extractions in West Seattle
West Seattle Family Dentistry
Good oral hygiene should always be practiced since the loss of a single tooth can have major impact upon your oral health and appearance. Although we will use every measure to prevent tooth loss, sometimes there are still necessary occasions when a tooth may need to be extracted:
- Severe decay
- Advanced periodontal disease
- Infection or abscess
- Orthodontic correction
- Malpositioned teeth
- Fractured teeth or roots
- Impacted teeth
If you have to have a tooth extracted, we will ensure the procedure is as pleasant and relaxing as possible with the use of oral sedation and nitrous oxide.
Nitrous Oxide sedation, also known as "laughing gas" is commonly used to make treatment more comfortable. This sedation is inhaled through a nasal mask that allows you to breathe in the medication and induces a state of relaxation. Local anesthetic will be administered in conjunction with nitrous oxide to eliminate pain.
Nitrous Oxide is offered complimentary to all patients at West Seattle Family Dentistry for all dental appointments.
Oral sedation dentistry allows appropriately trained dentist to create a safe and comfortable dental experience for patients who avoid the dentist out of fear or who might have time restrictions.
The sedation dentist can work more effectively by helping a patient become as comfortable as possible using well established and proven protocols with a variety of sedation medications administered orally and sublingually (under the tongue). These protocols can be customized for the patient's individual emotional and physical needs.
Sometimes referred to as relaxation or anxiety free dentistry, this comfortable care is offered by West Seattle Family Dentistry.
Prior to the appointment, we will prescribe you with the necessary medication that you need to bring to the appointment. On the day of the treatment, your companion will bring you to the office. Our experienced sedation team will monitor you throughout your entire visit. We can perform a variety of protocols customized to your particular physiological and pharmacological needs. The medications are safe and have been used for decades.
